Are you going to a Halloween party with your best friend? Do you know who were best friends on Sesame Street? That’s right! Bert and Ernie. You can dress up as these bosom buddies and add some character to your Halloween.
Items you will need for Bert:
Black hair (teased to stand on end)
Orange clown nose (not a perfect circle, slightly long)
White undershirt
Vertically striped, multi-colored V-neck sweater
Green pants
Devil horns
Yellow body paint (optional)
For Ernie:
Black hair (teased to stand on end)
Red clown nose (a perfect circle)
Horizontally striped, multi-colored sweater
Brown pants
Brown shoes
Rubber ducky
Orange body paint (optional)
You are really sort of a mirror image of one another, with slight differences. The taller of you should be Bert. Both of you need black hair that stands up on end. The more cartoonish this looks, the better. Bert’s nose is orange and somewhat longer than it is round. If you have to go with a round nose, it’s not the end of the world. A clown nose works well or you can use foam to make your own. Bert’s sweater has vertical stripes and is multi-colored. It is also v-necked to show off the top of his white undershirt. Ernie has a horizontally striped, multi-colored sweater with a rounded neck as he wears no undershirt. While it is not necessary, you can apply body paint to your face and hands. Bert is yellow. Ernie is orange. You two make a nice pair. Good friends. Best buddies. We predict sunny days where the air is clean.
Frightening Fact:
In 2005, Jim Henson, creator of Sesame Street and The Muppets, will get a series of postage stamps. Ten Muppet characters will share a sheet of stamps with a single stamp for Jim Henson. The Muppets honored include Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Sam the Eagle, Statler and Waldorf, Animal, Rowlf the Dog, The Swedish Chef, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and his assistant Beaker, Camilla the Chicken and Gonzo.
