Do-It-Yourself Cousin Itt Addams Halloween Costume

If you want to be a wallflower this Halloween, nothing says incognito quite like a Do-It-Yourself Cousin Itt Halloween costume. One of the more memorable of the out-of-town Addams Family members, Cousin Itt makes for a nice Halloween costume. Plus, he’s universally recognizable (in a non-recognizable way).

Items you will need:

Two Blond or light brown wig (the longest you can find)
Hairpins
Shirt
Jeans or slacks
Black shoes
Sunglasses
Hat

Find two matching wigs — the longest you can find. Ideally Cousin Itt’s hair should come to below the knees, but do the best you can given your height and the wigs that are available to you. Wear comfortable clothes.

Nothing too flashy. We recommend jeans and a T-shirt. If you are lucky enough to find one wig that covers both the front of your body and the back, more power to you. If not, use one wig to cover your face entirely.

Using hairpins, create small openings for your eyes so that you can see. Your sunglasses will cover your eyes, so never fear. Have a friend help you place the other wig on the back of your head and fasten the two wigs together with hairpins. Put on your hat and voila, you are Cousin Itt.

Frightening Fact:
“The Addams Family” premiered on Sept. 18, 1964. Cousin It first visited the family in episode 20, called “Cousin Itt Visits The Addams Family” and broadcast on Feb. 5, 1965.
