Do-It-Yourself Edward Scissorhands Halloween Costume
His was a sad childhood spent all alone in a big castle, especially after the poor demise of beloved Vincent Price. Now, it’s time for Edward Scissorhands to get ready for the party — a Halloween party, of course! You can put together a homemade Edward Scissorhands Halloween costume by yourself - it’s pretty simple and the result just kicks ass!
Items you will need:
Black long-sleeved shirt
Black pants
Black shoes and socks
A black wig (see below)
Hairspray
Black belts (at least 6)
A pair of black gloves
Cardboard
Tinfoil
Glue
White face makeup
Black face makeup
Start by putting on black clothing from head to toe — long-sleeved T-shirt, pants, socks and shoes. Gather a series of belts in varying sizes. Fasten the biggest belt around your chest, and work down from there, making sure the belt buckles are visible in the front. After you have added three to four belts from your chest to your waist, add one to each leg. You may be able to wrap each belt far down each leg before you fasten it. Do the same thing for your arms — one belt on each.
Now it’s time to make your scissorhands. Cut out your scissors in varying sizes in cardboard and attach them to your black gloves using masking tape. Glue the tinfoil to the scissors to make them appear metallic. Put on the wig. Brush it until the hair is wild, pointing up and out in all directions. Spray it in place when it’s sufficiently insane. Apply the white makeup to your face and use the black to create bags under your eyes and to create scars along your face. Once finished, put on your gloves and there you are — an Edward Scissorhands costume that is a cut above the rest! Yeah, sorry about that . . .
Frightening Fact:
Tim Burton considered both Tom Cruise (SICK!) and Robert Downey, Jr. for the role of Edward Scissorhands. As much as socreepy loves Robert Downey, Jr. - that simply would not have worked. It’s Johnny. It’s always got to be Johnny.
