Plus Size Halloween Costumes

Plus Size Halloween Costumes

Every year it’s the same routine – Halloween costumes are made for skinny people. What no one seems to realize is that just because you wear a plus size Halloween costumes doesn’t mean you can’t look like a Halloween hottie in your Morticia Addams costume!

Where is the decent plus size Halloween costume selection? Online, that’s where. Yes, Socreepy could definitely shed some poundage, but the truth is, I often make my own Halloween costumes because the ones stocked in the stores fit, but they’re tight. It’s a drag, especially if you want to cut loose and have some fun at the Halloween party!! However, merchandisers are getting smarter (getting “hip” to the hips, I say) and putting together a much better selection of plus size Halloween costumes – for men and women.

So, here is the Socreepy plus size Halloween costume showcase (blah blah blah) . . . oh, and this GREAT SHIPPING OFFER:

Order $30.00 – $59.99 receive $1.99 shipping
Order $60.00 or more receive FREE shipping

Star Wars Halloween Costumes

Star Wars Halloween Costumes

It’s only fitting that this year, Star Wars Halloween costumes are VERY popular. Interestingly, the most popular choice is not Anakin Skywalker.

Here are the popular Star Wars Halloween Costumes searches this year:

- Storm Trooper Halloween costume
- Clone Trooper Halloween costume
- Princess Leia Halloween costume (sorry – I can’t find Princess Leia in her slave gear anywhere)
- Yoda Halloween costumes
- Darth Vader Halloween costume

I’m a little old school, so the Star Wars Halloween costumes I have made “do it yourself” instructions for are linked below. For actual licensed Star Wars Halloween costumes for adults and children, see the costumes that are displayed. May the force be with you.

Uncle Fester Halloween Costume

Uncle Fester Halloween Costume

If you want to be part of the Addams Family and you don’t suffer from Hawaiifiveoguyphobia (the fear of being mistaken for Telly Savalas), check out how easy it is to make an Uncle Fester Halloween Costume!

Items you will need:
Bald cap (or a bald head)
Black hooded robe
Black eye makeup
White makeup
Black shoes or boots
Fake lightbulb

Dress in comfortable clothes, covering it all with a full-length black hooded cape. If you have a bald head, you are a step ahead. If not, put on your bald cap. Apply white makeup to your entire head, being careful not to get any makeup in your eyes. Apply black eye makeup in a wide circle around each eye. Apply white makeup to your hands for added creepy effect. If you can find a plastic or toy lightbulb, you can put the plug end into your mouth from time to time, re-creating the famous scene when Uncle Fester places a lightbulb in his mouth and conducts electricity to it through his body.

Witch Halloween Costume

Witch Halloween Costume

Dressing as a Witch for Halloween is a popular choice because the witch is one of the great classic figures of traditional Halloween lore and because the costume is relatively easy to create.

Items you will need for your Witch Halloween Costume:
Pointy black hat
Black wig
Black cape
Black clothes (skirts & hose are great)
Black shoes (preferably with a heel)
Makeup for face (green and putty for warts)
A broomstick
A fake black cat

It doesn’t take much to put together a witch Halloween costume. In fact, if you are on a tight budget, I highly recommend this costume. All you need is a pointy black hat, a long, flowing black wig (or your own hair) and black clothing topped with a black cape. You can purchase special Halloween costume makeup to create big warts for your face. Wear black shoes as well (with a heel, if you please). The key to a witch Halloween costume is to cop a “witchy” attitude! Cast spells on anyone that gets in your way!!

For the final touch, carry a broomstick with a fake black cat attached to the bristly end as though the cat is going for a ride on your broomstick.

Frightening Fact:
Using herbs, magic and ritual, Wiccans are able to tune in and transform the energies of themselves and others for the benefit of the greater good. Wiccans worship the cycles of nature and the earth.

Werewolf Halloween Costume

Werewolf Halloween Costume

Halloween is a great reason to bark at the moon! Dressing as a werewolf is a great way to pay homage to a classic monster. It’s also a great excuse to act like an animal (not that we encourage that)!

Items you will need for your Werewolf Halloween Costume:
Spirit gum
Lots of hair – use a wig, fake beard or buy it separately
Fake teeth
Ripped clothing (long-sleeved shirt)
Brown and black face paint
Werewolf hands

Get dressed first so you don’t mess up your hair! Go ahead and leave the shirt open at the chest or rip it, because you will need to add some hair there later on. Using spirit gum, carefully apply the beard to your clean face. Once your beard is secure, carefully apply the brown makeup to your face and use the black to give definition around your eyes, nose and cheekbones. If you’re feeling brave, attach more hair over your own eyebrows. If not, just fill them in with the makeup. Use the spirit gum to glue some more hair to your chest – make sure it comes through the shirt. To complete the look, put on the werewolf hands or gloves. Arrrrooooo! It’s Howloween!

Frightening Fact:
You are a werewolf if:
- You have hairy palms
- Tattoos of the crescent moon
- A unibrow
- Very long third finger on each hand
- Get exceptionally hairy when there is a full moon

Phantom of the Opera Halloween Costume

Few Halloween costumes are as simple or as symbolic as that of the Phantom of the Opera. It’s the romantic choice – if you’re into that sort of thing.

Items you will need:
Tuxedo
Black cape
White gloves
Black shoes
White opera mask (covering only half of your face)

Dress like you are going out for a night at the opera, adding a flowing black cape for added drama. Once you put on that white mask covering half your face, you are unmistakable as the Phantom of the Opera. Carrying a rose is a nice touch. Wear good smelling cologne. Polish your shoes. Act suave, gentlemanly, slightly stalkerish and a lot psycho.

Frightening Fact:
John Travolta and Antonio Banderas were both considered for the role of the Phantom in the 2004 movie version. Banderas actually spent several years in vocal preparation. He ended up a singing cartoon cat instead. Gerard Butler eventually won the role.
