Harry Potter Halloween Costumes – Gryffindor Halloween Costumes – Slytherin Halloween Costumes – Hufflepuff Halloween Costumes – Ravenclaw Halloween Costumes

You won’t need magic to pull a Harry Potter Halloween costume out of your sorting hat. It’s as simple as gathering a few staples together. This Hogwarts Halloween costume works for Hermione Granger or Ron Weasley as well – just make sure to have the appropriate wigs – wavy for a Hermione Halloween costume and red for a Ron Halloween costume. We also have all the Hogwarts Halloween costumes including Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw.

Items you will need for a Harry Potter or Hogwarts Halloween costume:

Messy dark hair or a dark-haired wig
Black robe or hoodless cape (a dark v-neck sweater works too)
White button-down shirt
Red and yellow tie
Dark slacks
Scar kit or red greasepaint stick
Broomstick
Black round-rimmed glasses
Black shoes and socks
Wand

Dress as if you’re heading off to a boarding school on the East Coast . . . Choate, Riverdale or, why not, Hogwarts?? Once you’re dressed, put on your glasses and you should pass for Harry Potter. If you don’t have dark hair, go for a wig. Don’t forget something very important – a lightning bolt shaped scar on your forehead. We suggest carrying your wand (don’t be dirty), your broomstick (don’t be dirty) or a toy white owl to complete the look. If the scar starts to bother you, perhaps He Who Must Not Be Named is around. Or maybe you’re just drunk.

Frightening Fact:
Steven Spielberg was offered the position as director of the first Harry Potter film, but was later refused when he couldn’t agree with JK Rowling’s insistence on an all-British cast. He wanted to use Haley Joel Osment for the part of Harry. Let’s face it, that would have sucked. SO bad!

Coffin Sofa

If you are a creep like me you are picky about your furniture. Nothing but the best… or cheap Ikea stuff that at least looks good. Point being it has to at least look stylish, classy and/or cool. This Autum Heretic coffin couch is one of the coolest I’ve seen. Even though it’s a bit more than what I’d pay for a couch. What creepster wouldn’t want a coffin couch sitting proudly in their living room?

We here at SoCreepy have been Guillermo del Toro fans for a long time. The amount of detail, dedication and fantasy he puts into his work is truly amazing. His ability to be such a visionary with the macabre and the surreal is a huge inspiration for us. His works are as scary and frightening as they are stunningly beautiful.

The New Yorker has an excellent, in-depth interview with the man. He discusses his recent Lovecraft project AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS, his youth, his Frankenstein project and other fun things. It is well worth a read.

It’s never too late (or too early depending on how you look at it) to talk about edible Halloween treats. Or gory birthday cakes such as the picture with this post of my birthday cake one year.

While cruising around the web I ran across this thread at MillionTalks.com showing off some pretty nifty Halloween cakes. Some are gory, some are cute and all look pretty damn tasty. Recipes included.
