Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983)

It’s creepy, but not kooky. It’s also not the Addams Family. It’s Disney’s Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983) and it’s one of Socreepy’s FAVORITE Halloweenie flicks!

Back in the day (that’s code for when I was a kid), Disney made some creepy ass movies. Ever see Watcher in the Woods? You know what I’m talking about! Something Wicked This Way Comes is a little seen treasure, though.

It’s based on a Ray Bradbury story about two boys that get involved with the traveling carnival. We all know carnivals are the root of all evil – clowns, carnies, ladies in need of Nair. This one is especially sinister courtesy of Mr. Dark. Booohahaha! I don’t want to say anything more, except check out Coffy/Foxy Brown/Friday Foster/Jackie Brown herself, Pam Grier lookin’ hawty hawt! You must watch it.

See what I mean??

Elvira back on TV

Many people believe Elivra – Mistress of the Dark retired years ago. Truth is she’s been busier than ever. Now she’s coming back to television, again with her Elvira’s Movie Macabre. Check out the LA Weekly article about it. It’s a long read, but worth it.

I found the website to The Scare Factory a few years ago. Ever since I have coveted the creatures and ghouls they create. If I were a millionaire my house would be entirely decorated with their props. I probably wouldn’t have much company because everyone would be scared to visit, but I’d love my house all decorated up like a crypt all year round. These guys make some really fantastic animated haunted house/horror props. They don’t come cheap, but if you have the coin I strongly suggest checking them out.

Check out this guy. He’s a swinging corpse!

Haunted Houses and Dancing Skeletons (1929)

Since we’re posting things to get us into the halloween mood around here, I thought I’d put this up. It’s Disney’s Mickey Mouse from 1929 in Haunted House. I was fascinated by it when I was a little kid and pretty sure it’s what began my fascination/addiction with skulls, skeletons and bones.

Another fun one related to Micky’s haunted house adventure is Disney’s short from 1929 The Skeleton Dance.

Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow (1999)

Tonight I’m going to watch one of my favorite movies to get myself in the mood for Halloween – Sleepy Hollow by Tim Burton. It’s everything that sums up the season for me: exciting, creepy, kind of dangerous, crisp colors, pumpkins, Christopher Walken. I think it’s a bit of underrated genius, plus it really is a classic Halloween story from back in the day. I remember watching the Disney version on t.v. every year when I was a kid.

SoCreepy wants to get you in the mood, too! For your viewing pleasure, let me tease you with some Sleepy Hollow!

Iron Man, Whiplash and War Machine Halloween Costumes

Hey beefy manly man…are you feeling Tony Stark sexy? Do ya wanna? Well, I want you to! I wanna see your awesomeness wrapped up in an Iron Man Halloween costume this October. I want to see blue Christmas lights pulsing from your chest and hear the clunk of your boots as you approach the Bitches Brew Halloween punch.

What’s that you say? Everyone is going to wear an Iron Man Halloween costume this year? Yeah, you’re probably right. Oh? You also say you’re too much man to really be Iron Man? Ah, of course. You wanna whip out the Whiplash Halloween costume. Whip. Bad joke. And don’t get me started on how hot Mickey Rourke USED to be! But I digress…

Seriously guys, this year a hot Halloween Costume look will be anything from Iron Man – Tony Stark, Iron Man, Whiplash or War Machine. If you’re feeling especially spicy, let me see you go as Pepper Potts. Spicy. Damn, I did it again. Just don’t forget to shave your legs. Gywneth would never approve otherwise.
